WhatsApp is introducing the ability to let users share longer voice notes as status on iOS and Android. With the enhancement, users can share up to one-minute-long voice notes with their contact list, reported WABetaInfo. Users must update their WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to see if the feature is available on their device.

According to the WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the 1-minute-long feature for voice notes in Status updates. It could eliminate the need to split voice messages up to 1-minute long into two shorter recordings. It could also prevent interruptions between two shorter voice recordings, making the experience seamless. However, you will still have to post multiple voice notes if the recording is beyond 1 minute. Alternatively, you can combine voice and text to convey your messages or share your feelings through WhatsApp Status.

How to share a voice note in WhatsApp Status?

  • On Android and iOS, go to the Updates tab at the bottom of the WhatsApp app. This is where all the status and channel updates are available.
  • Tap your profile picture with a plus mark to add a new status and choose Text on iOS, while on Android, look for the pencil icon towards the bottom-right corner of the app’s screen and tap it.
  • In the text mode, choose the microphone option by tapping the mic icon at the bottom. This will begin recording your voice, much like it does inside a chat. You can also swipe up the mic icon to lock the recording process for longer voice notes.

  • A preview of the recording will be available on the screen for you to review. If all is good, go ahead and share the voice recording as your Status.

Other WhatsApp Status features

WhatsApp is also working on other features apart from longer voice notes. Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp is ready to give you more control over who can view your Status Updates. The instant messaging app is experimenting with new tools aimed at allowing users to decide exactly who can view their shared content.

In other words, users can get more control over who can view their updates. In addition to this, users can also share longer videos as their status updates. They can share up to 1-minute long videos. Earlier, there was a limit of 30 seconds on the videos that could be shared via status updates.
