The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council has released a significant notification for athletes aspiring to further their education alongside their sports careers. In a recent notification (No:15 BOTE of 2024 dated 24-4-2024), the Council has invited offline applications from eligible candidates seeking admission to three-year Diploma Polytechnic courses for the academic year 2024. These courses will cover both Engineering and Non-Engineering fields and are available at Government Colleges/ Institutions of the UT of J&K. This opportunity is specifically designed for those applying under the Sports quota.
Eligibility Criteria for Candidates
Applicants should meet specific qualifications and conditions laid out by Government Orders, including No: 808-GAD of 2008 dated 17.06.2008, 946-GAD of 2008 dated 15.07.2008, 1090-GAD of 2008 dated 14.08.2008, and 733-GAD of 2010 dated 24.06.2010. Notably, eligible candidates include:
- Individuals who have represented India at international sporting events like the Olympic Games, Asian Games, SAARC Games, Commonwealth Games, or other world competitions.
- Athletes who have achieved top three positions in individual events or were part of a team securing the same, as well as those who have participated multiple times in National Championships.
The range of sports covered under this scheme is vast, encompassing athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, judo, skating, skiing, squash, billiards & snooker, chess, golf, kabaddi, karate, and numerous others listed in the advertisement.
Application Procedure
Application forms can be acquired upon a payment of Rs.200/- at the offices of the Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, located at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and the New Indoor Sports Complex, M.A. Stadium Jammu. The forms are available from the 8th of May, 2024, to the 14th of May, 2024, during office hours.
Important Dates and Additional Information
The deadline for submitting completed application forms is specified as the 14th of May, 2024, under the reference number DIP/J-184-P/2024. Submissions must be made within this timeframe at the respective divisional offices at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and M.A. Stadium Jammu. Candidates are urged to adhere to the enclosed terms and conditions provided with the application form, which also detail how eligibility for Category weightage will be determined.
