UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 Postponed check details
New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the rescheduling of the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024, originally slated for May 26, 2024. The Prelims exam will now take place on June 16. This decision comes in light of the Election Commission’s recent announcement of the schedule for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which are set to occur between April and June 2024.
The UPSC Civil Services mains exams are scheduled to be conducted from September 20 for a duration of five days. This year, the commission has advertised a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for Indian Forest Service (IFoS). The CSE comprises three stages – prelims, mains, and the personality test. The preliminary exam will consist of objective-type questions, with candidates scoring above the cut-off marks eligible to register for the UPSC IAS Main examination.
To be eligible for the exam, candidates must be at least 21 years old and not older than 32 years as of August 1, 2024. This means candidates must have been born between August 2, 1992, and August 1, 2003, as stated by the Commission in the CSE notification.
Earlier, the Commission extended the registration deadline for CSE 2024, with the last date for registration extended until March 6 (6 pm). A correction window was open from March 7 to March 13, providing candidates with an opportunity to rectify any errors in their applications.
The rescheduling of the CSE 2024 by UPSC underscores the need to accommodate the electoral process, ensuring a smooth conduct of both the examinations and the democratic exercise.
Candidates preparing for the prestigious civil services examinations will need to adjust their study schedules accordingly to align with the revised timetable. With the new dates in place, aspirants can now focus their efforts on preparing effectively for the upcoming stages of the examination process.
