According to the latest updates from the MET Centre in Srinagar, the region is expected to experience a mix of rain and snowfall, marking a transition from the dry spell of recent days.
Starting from April 26th to 27th, cloudy skies will prevail, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in many areas. Higher reaches are likely to witness snowfall, adding a picturesque layer to the landscape.
The anticipation heightens for April 28th and 29th, as the forecast suggests widespread cloudy conditions with a higher probability of rainfall and snowfall, especially in the mountainous regions. Heavy rain is expected to drench isolated areas, particularly in the Jammu & Kashmir Division. Additionally, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds may sweep through, urging caution among residents and travelers alike.
On April 30th, scattered areas may experience light rain accompanied by thunder. However, a respite is in sight from May 1st to 5th, as generally dry weather is anticipated across the region.
Despite the visual treat nature has in store, authorities are issuing advisories to stay vigilant. Farmers are advised to suspend operations from April 26th onwards, anticipating disruptions due to inclement weather. Furthermore, temporary traffic disruptions are expected over higher mountain passes like Zojila, Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, and Razdan Pass, particularly on April 28th. Low-lying areas may face waterlogging, and there’s a possibility of landslides and shooting stones, urging caution among residents.

Moreover, there may be a temporary increase in water levels in Jehlum streams and Nallas, necessitating precautionary measures.
